The Penfield School Board met on 10/4.

The school district underwent routine internal and external audits- no major issues arose.

The NYS comptroller audit of the school district occurred over the summer- purchasing processes were the audit’s focus. Results will be published in October.

The school district worked with the NYS School Board Association, which lobbies on behalf of NYS schools, to set their legislative agenda for the next state session.

Morning SEL blocks- The group provided Mark with feedback on how it is going. The implementation has gone smoothly at IL. The buddy class set up is going especially well. It would be great to expand the program into middle and high school.

Membership Drive updates- Susan Leader

We have 80 memberships, our goal this fall is for 100 members. The drive will continue in October with giveaways.

Events/Clubs

B2SB- It was a fun night! Next year, we could potentially spread out onto the fields and offer lawn games and consider a tent for any entertainment. Families should be encouraged to either have dinner at the food trucks, bring their own picnics or eat at home first.

Curriculum Night- Next year, the PTO could have tables at multiple entrances.

Chess Club- It is off to a good start! There was great interest this fall with ~60 students signed up. The PTO looks forward to supporting the spring registrants.

Hispanic Heritage Month celebration Encanto Family Movie Night-  Project Lead is doing a great job!

Make a Difference Food Drive-  IL families will be encouraged to donate Cranberry Sauce and Brownie mix (Oct 17-22)

Pancake Breakfast (10/22)- run by IL staff, proceeds will be donated to UNICEF’s Ukraine Fund.

Possible Bingo Night (11/18)- We are looking for volunteers. Melissa Kelsey to lead.
